History of the C208

The C208 cabriolet generation debuted in 2003, introducing Mercedes' advanced retractable hardtop technology to the CLK lineup.

Development focused on improving structural rigidity and safety compared to the previous generation. Mercedes engineers integrated a sophisticated three-piece hardtop roof system capable of opening in 25 seconds at speeds up to 25 mph, setting new standards for the segment.

The model received a comprehensive facelift in 2005, featuring revised front fascia styling, updated interior trim, and enhanced infotainment systems. Engine options were expanded with more efficient and powerful variants throughout the production cycle.

Production concluded in 2010 as Mercedes transitioned to the larger E-Class Cabriolet platform. The C208 achieved significant sales success globally, particularly in European and North American markets where convertible demand remained strong.
